Dr. Sara Johansen
I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and I also work as a psychiatrist and therapist in private practice.
As a psychiatrist and therapist, my approach is to be compassionate, inquisitive, and candid. I value our collaborative work and believe our partnership is foundational to change.
The challenges you are facing now may feel overwhelming, and you may feel stuck in patterns that are no longer serving you. We will work together to understand what is happening in your life right now, while exploring the historical patterns, beliefs, and experiences that may be contributing to your current experience.
I specialize in treatment of depression, anxiety, stress, grief, and life transitions. My particular area of interest is relationship challenges, and I work with both individuals and couples using an approach informed by attachment theory and emotionally focused therapy.
